Red Rock Renovation

This was one of our early projects as Banksia Built and one we'll always remember. The owners had a much-loved holiday home in Red Rock and wanted to update it to better suit the way they used the property with family and friends.

The project started as a full renovation of the original beach shack, including a new kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and living spaces. We also added a large front deck with a flyover roof and feature staircase, along with a second covered entertaining area at the rear of the home complete with a new laundry and bathroom. Downstairs, an underutilised area was transformed into a spare room and studio, while new fencing helped bring the whole property together.

As with most renovations, there were a few surprises along the way. The new staircase needed to be built over an existing underground water tank, and once work began downstairs we uncovered significant waterproofing issues behind a retaining wall. Both required a bit of problem solving, but with a practical approach and good communication we were able to work through them without disrupting the overall project.

The finished result is a home that feels more open, more functional and far better suited to long weekends, family gatherings and life by the coast.
